Description

Mölten sandstone, also known as Gröden sandstone, captivates with its naturalness and calming beige colour, as well as its fossil inclusions from prehistoric times. Historically, this stone was used in local farmhouses and especially in sacred buildings (e.g. Bolzano Cathedral). Due to its timeless beauty, this unique material is now experiencing a renaissance in modern architecture and continues to be used for church restorations beyond the country's borders.
Mölten sandstone is a very high quality and resistant sandstone because it is quartz-bound. It is also suitable for restorations.

This stone is quarried at 1800 metres below the "Stoanernen Mandln".

Use

Used by stonemasons mainly as stone flooring indoors and outdoors, stairs, solid works, bathroom design, wall facing, ventilated facades, individual stone fountains, gravestones.
